Potential and Preparation

There are twelve Grammar Schools in Essex which select their children from Year 6 based on competitive tests in English, Maths and Verbal Reasoning. Tests are held in late November each year at the Grammar School you have potentially chosen for your child.

The questions I am most often asked by concerned parents are:

How can I best prepare my child for the tests?
Most children require focused and rigorous preparation which will ensure that they perform to their maximum potential on the day of the tests.
I am able to offer preparation classes, in small groups on Saturday mornings or after school.

How do I know that my child has Grammar School potential?
I offer a computerised test of 11+ potential which measures reasoning ability; key literacy measures such as reading comprehension, single word reading and spelling; phonological processing and the working of short term memories. These key attributes then enable me to discuss with you the likelihood of your child being able to cope with 11+ preparation, testing and an academic Grammar School education.

Will private tuition help?
I am proud to say that over the last 6 years the average pass rate of my pupils has been 77%.
